Optimization of the Distance between the Vertices of a Vortex Generator

In the present work, the influence of vortex generators on heat transfer and flow characteristics in a rectangular channel is investigated numerically by finite volume method and solving of Navier-Stokes and energy equations that were discretized by QUICK scheme. At the first the obtained results are validated with the experimental ones in the literature and it is shown that, the experimental data fit well with the numerical. Then, the impact of distance between the vertices of the winglets on heat transfer and hydrodynamic characteristics is surveyed. By comparing the distances between the vertices of winglets, it was concluded that the more vertices of the winglets are sticking together, the more the heat transfer is augmented.
