Antibacterial water base coating with silver nano-particles

Silver has been known for its antimicrobial properties for many years. In addition to more applications in medicine and diseases treatment, silver nano-particles is applied in different industries such as coatings. In this study, the use of nanoparticles of silver in water-base acrylic paints was investigated. Different techniques such as electronic microscope images, SEM & TEM have been used to identify nano-particles, also EDX. According to the Iran National Standard number 10900, the antimicrobials properties of the dried films of coating against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria has been proved. -
