The influence of the geometric parameters of beam and column on RC moment frames behavior

Moment frames are one of the most important structures that are being used to resist against seismic loadings. . It is apparent that the beam- column connections play an important role in frames behavior especially on the lateral displacement of structure. In this study, 3 buildings with 5, 11 and 15 stories respectively with medium ductility was modeled by ETABS software and various dimension was applied on beams and columns of these buildings in order to accurately assess the effect of dimension variation of beam and column in connections. It was revealed that the amount of lateral displacement and drift ratio significantly decreased by increasing width of beams in connections
