PERCEPTIONS ON BIOETHICS AMONG FAMILY PHYSICIANS IN KARACHI

We conducted a questionnaire based survey of 85 Family Physicians in Karachi, with regard to their perceptions on bioethics . the majority of Family Physicians were males, with mean age of 36.3 years, had minimal postgraduate qualifications and continuing medical education. We asked about moral duties of a physiciam, reaction in the event of the death of a close relative due to a doctor’s negligence and whether doctor is next to god. Questions were included on discontinuation of artificial life support, giving pf gifts by pharmaceutical companies to doctors, sickness certification, organ donation, human cloning concealing diagnosis and patient confidentially.
