Dispersion and Distributions of Organoclay in (Acryloitrile - Butadiene Rubber/Polyacrylate/Organoclay) Nanocomposite

Abstract- Acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR) and polyacrylates (ACM) are oil resistant rubbers, which are used in many engineering application. NBR is a family of unsaturated copolymers that can be attacked by heat and ozone. Blending of NBR with the ACM and organoclay increases the heat and ozone resistance of this polymer. In this paper (NBR/ACM) blends containing organoclay and different amounts of NBR were prepared using melt mixing method. Then dispersion and distributions of organoclay in acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR)/acrylic rubber (ACM) blends were investigated as a function of NBR content, using X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis and atomic force microscopy and correlated with the mechanical properties.
