    The issue of this paper is analysis and evaluation of the mechanical behavior of an optimized magnetorheological (MR) clutch. The present clutch consists of a rotating disc, placed in the closed cylindrical box, filled with MR fluid. By applying an electric current through the coil which is wrapped about the cylinder, a magnetic field is produced inside the cylinder. It leads to change the nominal viscosity in MR fluid and consequently changes the resistant torque against disc rotation. This behavior can conduct us to manage the coupling between disc and cylinder by controlling the input electric current. In this aim, after optimizing the geometric parameters of a designed clutch, the effect of electric current on mechanical behavior of clutch is modeled.
