Abstract - In the present research, mechanical properties of ML-506 epoxy at different strain rates have been experimentally
investigated under torsional loading conditions. Then, based on the experimental results, well-known Johnson-Cook (JC)
constitutive model was modified to represent the linear and nonlinear shear behaviors of polymers. This new developed model
has been called modified Johnson-Cook (MJC) constitutive model that can predict the strain rate dependent shear behaviors of
polymers. Furthermore, the present MJC model is combined with Halpin-Tsai micromechanical model and a novel
micromechanical constitutive model has been developed. Using this micromechanical model, the mechanical properties of
nano-phased polymer could be predicted at different strain rates. A comparison between predicted and experimental results of
neat and nano-phased epoxy shows a good agreement.
