Communication Obstacles at Primary Schools from the Perspective of School Principals

Abstract
This study aims to analyze vitally important communication obstacles for education organizations according to school principals’ view. Study group of survey model consists of 103 school principals working at primary schools at the city center of Kars and its towns. It has been understood that 89 of obtained data were proper for analysis. ‘Scale of Communication Obstacles in School Administration’ used for determining communication obstacles at primary schools. In developing scale, factor analysis, item total correlation and Cronbach alpha have been calculated. Mean, standard deviation, frequency and percentage; t-test, Mann Whitney U test and Kruksal Wallis H-test techniques used to analyze data. There were significance differences on different dimensions of scale according to research findings depending on age of school principals, the way they are assigned and whether they work in their hometowns or not. Principals often confront with psychosocial obstacles rather than technic and semantic, organizational and political obstacles. Mandatory speech, anger and prejudices were regarded the most significant obstacles of communication. Different political thinking at schools, syndicate differentiation, teachers’ being young or old were regarded the least remarkable factors in terms of communication obstacles.
