Abstract
In this study, tensile shear strength was determined for walnut (Juglans regia L.) and pear (Pirus communis L.) woods at 6, 9 and 12 m/min feed rate, cutting direction and opposite of cutting direction. The test samples were planed with 4-blade, horizontal milling machines with 85 mm shaft diameter, 7200 rpm and the chip thickness of 1.4 mm Polyurethane (PU) and polyvinyl acetate (PVA) adhesives were used for bonding of the test samples. Bonding strength was determined by applying tensile shear tests to the samples in accordance with TS EN 205 standard. According to the results of the study, the highest bonding strength was obtained in walnut samples, glued with PVA (11.23 N/mm2) and planed to cutting direction while the lowest value was found from pear samples, were glued with PU (8,29 N/mm2) and planed to opposite of the cutting direction.
