Abstract
In this study, physical properties of different currant (Ribes spp.) cultivars, Jostaberry (Ribes x nidigrolari Bauer) and gooseberry (Ribes grossular L.) grown in Kestel District of Bursa Province were investigated. Measurements showed that among fruit varieties, the lowest fruit width was obtained in Red Lake (8.69 mm), the highest fruit width was identified in Goliath cultivars (13.60 mm). The average width of the fruits was 13.81 mm for Jostaberry cultivars and 15.45 mm for the gooseberries. The lowest fruit size (length) was found in Red Lake cultivars among currant varieties as 8.39 mm and the highest fruit sizes (length) were detected in Goliath, Jostaberry and Bektashi cultivars as 13.35, 14.22 and 16.40 mm respectively. In currant varieties, the lowest fruit weight was obtained in Booskop Giant (0.53 g) while the highest value was obtained in Goliath with an average of 1.68 g. The average fruit weights obtained for Jostaberry and Gooseberries were 1.83 and 2.48 g, respectively.
