  • Abstract
Liberal Democratic Peace Theory asserts the argument that democratic states do not make a war upon each other. This argument grounded on the theory that claims democratic structure of political system helps to establish a peaceful foreign policy. Hence, it can be said that democratic states do not wage war, unless they are attacked or provoked by none-democratic or authoritarian states. This paper contents the democratic peace theory with its basic components and proposals, and then discusses whether this theory provides us a better explanatory frame work for understanding its complexity of international relations. Although this theory is well known among the American scholars, in Turkey, there are not sufficient studies explaining this approach. In this context, it is the aim of this study to make a proper contribution in clarifying the vague in the area studied.
