    Music Lessons with Cooperative Learning Method in Mainstreaming Classes

  • Abstract
    Music lessons are the lessons that students with special needs and the normal students can interact intensively and represent themselves individually and together. The education -in order to represent themselves in music area - for the students with special needs should be planned considering their individual learning rate and some educational adaptations should be done in the classroom. One of the adaptations for educational methods is the cooperative learning method that targets the improvement of academic and social developments of all students in the classroom. With this study, music lessons performed by the cooperative learning method at an elementry school in Balıkesir have been investigated. Also affect of the cooperative learning activities on the normal and special nedeed students’ success in the lessons and the way of their behavior for the music lessons has been determined. Their interest and interaction to the music lessons have been interpreted according to the observations in the classroom and the thoughts of the teacher. According to the research results, in the work group all the students’ success in music lessons and the way of their behaviour for the music lessons have been increased. This result is supported by examining the videos that have been taken during the practices and the interviews with the teacher.
