    The Effect of Science Center Learning Activities on Students’ Science Achievement and Relationship With Motivation Level

  • Abstract
    The purpose of the study was to examine the effect of educational activities in science centers on the motivation and achievement of learning science. The research was carried out in 2013-2014 education-instruction year in an secondary school in Bursa. Totally 126 (74 girls, 52 boys) students 4 different class participated in this study. In the study, controlled the pre-test post-test experimental research model was used. Experimental group students carried out the learning activities related to the light and colors’ unit for four weeks in the science center. In order to test the significance between the groups, the independent sample t test and ANOVA test was used. The data obtained in the study were analysed by computer program SPSS 16. At the end of the study, it was observed that there has been a statistically significant increase at the % 99 level in the science lesson achievement and motivation when the activities in the curriculum were implemented in science centers. This result shows that Science curriculum can be effectively supported by science centers, and it reflects positively on the school learning.
