Abstract
Liver, the largest internal organ of our body, is a metabolic, hematopoietic and immune organ. Due to its many functions, liver may be commonly impacted by external factors such as drugs and infections. For the evaluation of the liver damage or disease, aminotransferases are frequently used as biochemical tests. These tests including aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT), are known in clinical practice as liver function tests, inadvertently. Serum aminotransferase levels are measured often during routine policlinic controls of the patients and levels are frequently observed as slightly high. In this instance, further through evaluation is performed to the patients by consulting with pediatric gastroenterology department. In this review, diseases that cause aminotransferase elevation were revised.
