Abstract
In this study the biology department and biology education department students’ self-efficacy and teaching profession self-efficacy beliefs’ effects on their attitudes towards teaching profession were investigated. The sample of the study, which was carried out through descriptive scan method of scanning the relational model, consisted of total 469 students enrolled in the department of biology and the biology education. Biology self-efficacy scale, self-efficacy scale for the teaching profession and the attitude scale for the teaching profession were used as data collection tools. SPSS-15 package program was used to analyze the data obtained from the scales; the frequency distribution and simple linear regression analysis were carried out. At the end of the study, it was observed that the attitude scale towards the teaching profession scores of the students in biology and biology education departments have normal distribution. However, the regression coefficients of biology self-efficacy and self-efficacy beliefs for teaching profession were found to be higher for the students in biology education department when compared to the students in biology department.
