    Reporting Proposals for Writing Thesis in the Social Sciences: How to Write a Thesis?

  • Abstract
    Graduate students have difficulties in writing thesis and reporting its results qualitatively in the social sciences. The aim of this study is to give information which are thought to be helpful for reporting research in the process of thesis writing in social sciences. For this aim, 172 theses found in “ProQuest Dissertation and Thesis Debate”, 19 books and 23 sources such as articles and reports were utilized. In this study, the question “How should the problem, research questions, purpose, significance, limitations and assumptions of a thesis be stated?” was answered. Besides, how should the section of findings, results, conclusions, assertions, discussion, implications, and recommendations be stated has been investigated. Moreover, methodological differences for each section in terms of qualitative and quantitative research were determined. Finally, for each section, guiding explanations were mentioned by giving good thesis and article examples to the readers.
