Abstract
Meena Alexander and Bharati Mukherjee are India-origin feminist American writers. This study focuses on Meena Alexander‟s Fault Lines and Bharati Mukherjee‟s Desirable Daughters. There are certain parallels in the lives of these two writers. They were born in the same culture, they got married to westerners, and they both migrated to the west after their marriages. This study suggests that their marriages were an escape from misoginistic traditions. There is a big gap between the two cultures in respect to the approach to women. For these writers, the new culture is preferable to the older one although there are some obstacles in it; this study focuses on the effects of the western world on their feminist transformation.
