Child Victims of Abuse, Their Post-Offense Problems and Their Protection by the Law

Children, especially young ones are more prone to be victims of abuse. This abuse can be in many forms such as corporal, sexual, emotional and chemical or it can be in many forms of neglect, such as neglect in feeding, affection or medical neglect. All these have many negative effects on children. Child abuse dates back to Roman times when the child was considered within the property of the father. Although there are quite enough legal provisions for the protection of such children, since we do not have sufficient statistics to show the real dimensions of child abuse. What to do is to create awareness in the public by the media, to form support groups such as anonymous parents, establish a central registry of child abuse offenders and enhance mandatory reporting.
