Abstract
Development disparities between regions is an important problem encountered in each country. Today, many countries have faced challenges caused by regional disparities as they have not shown a balanced growth performance. For this reason, countries have entered into a new quest in order to resolve regional disparities and achieve a balanced growth. The approach focused on the topic is Regional Development Agencies. Especially after the 1980s, the effect of globalization has increased an interest in regional development and the idea of establishing regional development agencies came to the fore. Regional Development Agencies in many countries have been an important driving force in ensuring development providing to mobilization of possessed the potential. Inter-regional development disparities in our country are very significant. This problem was solved by central planning after 1960s but expected effects haven‟t come into being. Our country is in the process of harmonization with the EU, regional policies have made some changes and regional development agency model has been implemented in order to growth of underdeveloped regions. The purpose of this study, is to consider the impact on the local economy, especially Zafer Development Agency operating in the TR33 region will be examined in a general framework of Regional Development Agencies.
