  • Abstract
This study was carried out to detect the viruses in most commonly used vegetable seeds for plant production in our country and to determine the prevalence of these viruses. A total of 325 seed samples were collected from various foundations and farmers. The collected seeds were constituted the study material. Seed samples in question, were tested by biological, serological and molecular methods. According to test results it was found that there are both singular and mix infections in tested seed samples. Prevalence of viral agents in seed samples according to vegetable species, varied from 0% to 69%. While the highest infection rate was determined in pepper seeds, no viral agent was detected in seeds of eggplant, broad bean and spinach. The viral infection rate of 325 tested seed samples was determined as 28%.
