The Strategy of Adaptation in France: The Case of Ağrı Migrants

Abstract
In this study, the migration process and adaption strategies of immigrants from Ağrı to Paris are analyzed. Also here, the academic literature on the issue and findings obtained from the interviews results are discussed. The study consists of five sections. The research methodology and its problematics are mentioned in the introduction part. In the second section, migration to France is briefly discussed and a historical evaluation on the phenomenon of migration in Turkey is analyzed and also how people coming from Ağrı to France adopt themselves to this process are explained. In the third section, we make a critical reading of the theory of “communitarian closure” which covers an important place in the literature of migration to France and we also show the shortcomings of the French Republican model of integration. In the last section, based on the findings of our field study , the strategy that people coming from Ağrı use while they try to adopt the life in Paris is discussed and the study is concluded with a general overview.
