Determination of Vulnerability of Cities to Climate Change: The Case of Ankara

Climate change affect all social, economical, environmental and institutional systems from global to urban levels. Coping and adaptive capacities of related systems exposed to climate change have impacts on subsistence today and in the future. For this reason determination of vulnerability of these systems to climate change is a vital issue of management. This research develops a method to exhibit vulnerabilities of cities to climate change in terms of social, economical, environmental, institutional and spatial aspects, and employs city of Ankara as a case. With this aim different vulnerability studies have been reviewed. Analysis of the vulnerability of Ankara to climate change has been based on a set of indicators. Findings indicate that the vulnerability of Ankara to climate change impacts is high.
