Abstract
In regenerative medicine, obtaining biologically reliable cell sources without causing any ethical problems has a critical importance. Isolating stem cells from dental pulp is relatively a non-invasive technique compared to other isolation methods and also it causes no ethical problems. Therefore, it has been the focus of research for regenerative medicine and dentistry in the recent years. Researches on dental pulp stem cell, presenting tissue regeneration as a treatment alternative to the dentistry by means of clinical dentistry together with basic biology, are based on the formation of dentin, pulp, cementum or periodontal ligament to elicit the repair of injured tissues. The aim of this review is to investigate the current literature about general stem cell characteristics, dental pulp stem cells and evaluate the results.
