Determination of Drought Periods for Seyfe Lake by Standardized Precipitation Index

Abstract
In the study, meteorological drought depending on precipitation of Seyfe Lake in past years has been examined. The occurrence of drought of Seyfe Lake in case of the first Period (1975-1991) and the second period (1992-2008) has been analyzed by using the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) method. The results of the analysis, the drought values of the first period and the second period showed that different from each other. The values of the second period mild drought during all dry periods (3, 6, 12 and 24 months) increasing the compared to the first period showed itself in various intensities. However; normal humidity severity is observed to decrease from 1st Period to 2nd Period. The occurrences drought of the severe and very severe in both periods in terms of short and long periods of time showed that the minimum values. These values show that water stress will increase in the coming years Kırşehir Province. In this respect, taking of the necessarydrought measures are an important issue.
