Abstract
By following the idea of nationalism idea in history textbooks of Bulgaria since the foundation of the country, this article aims to place the role of education for the Turks of Bulgaria who constitute a minority community. This place of education is more or less perceived as the continuation of the Ottoman regime that ended in Bulgaria in 1878. Thus, as it is the case for all Balkan countries, this way of interpretation shows that collective identity and state legality has developed as a reaction against the Ottoman heritage.
