Abstract
Hazelnut is the most important product of Black Sea Region in Turkey. Despite many pest pressures inhazelnut production, “shothole borers”, which lead to drying up of branches, is one of the mostimportant insect pests of hazelnut. Cultural techniques, chemical and biotechnical control methods are used against these harmful insects. Biotechnical control methods include sticky and non-sticky traps. In this review, practical information on identifying shothole borer species is given, and some problems that can occur while using the sticky and non-sticky traps against these harmful insects are discussed,advantageous and disadvantageous aspects of trap types are compared, and recommendations regardingto the use of trap types are explained.
