THE ROLE OF THE LOCUS OF CONTROL AND CAREER CHOICES OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS ON THE TIME PERSPECTIVE

Abstract
This study is intended to determine the significance of the university students time perspectives according to their career choices and their locus of control types. For this purpose the data was collected through questionnaire. The questionnaire includes; open and closed-ended questions to determine students career choices, Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory and Rotter s Locus of Control Scale. After the validity and reliability analysis of the questionnaire, data gathering was conducted on May 2015. Purposeful sampling was used as a sampling method and analysis was carried out on 276 respondents’ answers. Data was analyzed by descriptive analysis (percentage and frequency analysis), factor analysis, t-test, ANOVA and Tukey tests. According to the results, only future perspective found significant according to the career choices. On the other hand, according to the type of locus of control, future and fatalistic time perspective found statistically significant.
