Abstract
Discrete event simulation is an important decision support tool to evaluate performances in manufacturing, distribution or process facilities. The focus of this study is to detect bottleneck stations in a heat exchanger production line using simulation modelling. In the first phase of the study, the existing system is modeled in Arena 10.0 environment and it is verified and validated. In the following phase, bottleneck stations of the system are identified and alternative strategies are suggested to improve the capacity of these stations. Finally, the performance of these strategies are evaluated under varying experimental conditions.
