Abstract
This study analyzes the effect of teaching performed in accordance with the parameters on students’ academic success in the science course by determining what parameters affect their academic success using the Pareto analysis technique. This study has been carried out over 52 students studying at a middle school in Kahramanmaraş in the 2017-2018 academic year. Pretest-posttest has not been used in the study; however, the semi-experimental design has been used alongside the control group. Applications about motivation and time management determined through the Pareto analysis technique have been made for the experimental group; as for the control group, the current curriculum has been carried out. The study’s quantitative data have been collected using the academic success test developed by İnel (2009). The study’s qualitative data have been collected using the semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher. Quantitative data has been analyzed in the SPSS program.As a result, a significant statistical difference has been noted between the experimental group students’ academic success scores for the science course of experimental compared to the control group students’ scores.
