Abstract
Coronary atherosclerosis is a major cause of death. The term myocardial infarction reflects evidence of cell death of cardiac myocytes caused by ischemia. Myocardial infarction with ST-elevation most often can be identified from the patients history, from the ECG and serum markers of cardiac damage. Symptoms are pain radiating to arms, jaw and epigastrium and lasting more than 20 minutes ST-elevation on ECG and increased serum troponin levels. Symptoms include various combinations of chest, upper extremity, jaw, or epigastric discomfort. There is ST-elavation on ECG and increase in serum troponin levels.
