Abstract
Turkish painters influenced by the movements emerged in Europe have had a significant role in the development of Turkish Painting Art after the declaration of the republic. Painters’ desire to gather art forms they were influenced under the same roof led to the emergence of groups in Turkish painting. “The Group 10” founded in 1950s in that time is different from other groups in terms of localness-oriented in its establishment, awakening of folk art in painting and the group members’ interconnected paintings. Orhan Peker born in 1927 in an extended family in Trabzon was the prominent and liberal figure in that group. He gave the most important examples of expressionism in Turkish Painting Art and his blotting and abstractive painting technique brought him into an important place in Turkish Painting. In this study, the life of Orhan Peker, one of the founders of The Group 10, his art and his works have been evaluated.
