    A Development Study of Attitude Scale Related to Harmony Course

  • Abstract
    The aim of this research is to develop a valid and reliable attitude scale to learn music students’ attitudes towards harmony classes. The research is a descriptive study conducted by general screening method. In the first stage of the developmental process of Attitude Scale related to Harmony, the relevant literature was examined and attitude theories were examined. Subsequently, the substances were identified and presented to expert opinion. After the expert opinion, the 37-item draft scale was reduced to 21 items and the preliminary application for validity and reliability analysis was carried out. The study group of the research consisted of 67 people who have been studying at the Department of Music Sciences of the Fine Arts Faculty of Atatürk University and who took Harmony course. Factor analysis was made to determine the validity of the scale, and it has been determined that the scale is the only factor and the structure is valid. For the reliability of the scale, the pre-test was applied and the reliability coefficient (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.958) was determined. As a result, it has been understood that the scale is highly reliable.
