Intertextuality can be defined as the activation of other texts in the reading and consructing meaning. It is also a text’s being relevant to the former texts and creating an expantancy for the latter texts. Despite the developments in the educational technology, course books as the means of education have important functions. Course books are in the front rank among the materials used by the teachers. Course books are the easily accessible sources through which students can repeat the educational activities by themselves. Examining properties of educational matarials such as constructing learning and establishing intertexual relations would make these material more eloborate. In the study, document-view technique was used to gather data for the study. Turkish course books and teachers’ guide belonging to three different grades and publishers were examined in trems of criteria of intertextuality. In these educational materials the theme used to construct education and references among texts were established through association with disciplines rather than Turkish course. However, these could not be achieved in some of the themes and texts. Furthermore, not all of the references identified in the texts are included in the guide books. Establishing these relations depends on the capability, knowledge and experience of the teachers.
