Abstract
This study aimed at determining elementary preservice teachers’ perceptions regarding their cooperating teachers’ special area sufficiency. Sample of this study included 150 preservice teachers majoring in elementary education at Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University. A 5-likert type of scale developed by the researchers was used in this study. Cronbach alpha coefficiency of the scale was determined as 0.947. Results of the study revealed that preservice teachers’ perceptions for learning-teaching environment and development, observations and evaluation, personal and professional development in relation to public, developing language skills, scientific and technological development, personal responsibilities and social relations were completely adequate. For the factors, art and esthetic and physical education and security it was found that preservice teachers thought their cooperating teachers were “adequate”. There were no significant differences amongst preservice teachers’ perceptions regarding gender and type of education. However, there was a significant relationship between their perception and achievement.
