Abstract
Aim: An infrequent intracranial pathology related to hypocalcemia and bilateral symmetric intracranial calcifications presented with the review of the literature. Case: A thirty-two year old male patient with headache referred to our clinic. The physical and neurological examination of the patient was normal. There was hypocalcemia, hyperphosphatemia and increased parathormone levels on biochemical examination. The cranial computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging showed disseminated and symmetrical calcifications in basal ganglion, thalamus and cerebellum. The patient was diagnosed as Fahr Syndrome according to laboratory and radiological findings. Discussion: Fahr’s Disease is a rare intracranial pathology related with hypocalcemia and bilateral symmetric intracranial calcifications. The replacement treatment for hypocalcemia can eliminate symptoms when the disease is diagnosed.
