Abstract
Adenomyosis is the benign invasion of endometrium into the myometrium. It is mostly observed in the women of reproductive ages. The most frequent symptoms are menorrhagia and dysmenorrea. The close association of endometriosis and adenomyosis indicates that both entities share similar pathophysiological mechanisms. Recent progress in magnetic resonance imaging is related with increased diagnostic success.
