  • Abstract
    The contribution of tourism to the country and the region s economy through an economic revival of tourism in the area is known. The effect of tourism income by creating employment and contributing to accelerate investment. But development is not only economically, social and environmental factors must be considered along with. From this perspective, a region in development of tourism role while examining the region s social lives within the local community tourism benefits of the knowledge and direction of tourism policy formulation is important is considered. Starting from this point; study, rural and coastal areas is also an ancient Canakkale / Ayvacik district in the development of the tourism sector in the context of the role is to determine the views of local people. Application as a result, Ayvacik people for regional development the most important new sector at the beginning of the tourism industry is coming of tourism regional development in a positive way could influence and the region to more tourists to come to their conclusions were reached. Moreover, transportation, accommodation facilities are believed to develop tourism is increased. Besides, traders, civil servants and retired people to play a major role in regional development of tourism are more convinced. Finally, educational level and income level of the local people, increasing their ideas about the role of tourism in regional development is increasing in a positive direction.
