Abstract
Crayfish is naturally distributed in fresh waters and is a crustacea that belongs to Astacidae family which has high economic value. Crayfish production in Turkey based on harvesting from the natural water resources, dam lakes and ponds Nowadays, the purpose of the freshwater crayfish juvenile rearing is restoration of natural water resources and the reinforcement of freshwater crayfish stocks. In crayfish aquaculture, the possible mortality factors are caused by cannibalism, agressive behavior, stock density, water temperature, lack of nutritition and artificial shelters. The purpose of this review is the development of the possibilities for freshwater crayfish farming by investigating these problems.
