Abstract
This study deals with urban poverty problem in a conceptual way within the frame of a fi eld study carried out in Ağrı city. The poverty in Ağrı has been analyzed in regard to psychical environmental conditions and socio-economical data. The sampling of study was constituted by 300 families in Kazım Karabekir, Gazi, Alpaslan, Cumhuriyet, Fatih, Fırat and Yüzüncüyıl neighborhoods of Ağrı. In order to fi nd out the dimensions of urban poverty, these families were applied survey and interview in November-December 2010. As a result of the survey study in Ağrı city, where there are explicit indications of deprivation and poverty, data obtained on the work and educational states of poor people, the size of families, features of health and social security, income consumption relationships, neighborhood, and housing conditions; and the socio-economical appearance of urban poverty has been manifested.
