    Structuring the Cognitive Dimensions of Well-Being Phenomenon: Positive Orientation Model

  • Abstract
    The Positive Orientation Model was developed by Caprara and collegues (2009) so as to structure the cognitive dimensions of well-being phenomenon. The aim of the present study is to determine the validity of the positive orientation model among Turkish university students. Research group of the study was composed of 320 university students (188 male and 132 female). The age of university students including research group differed between 17 and 27, the mean age was 21.13 (SD = 1.80). In current study, Life Satisfaction Scale, Self-Esteem Scale, Life Orientation Test and personal data form developed by researchers were used as measures. According to the results of initial and second confirmatory factor analysis, the positive orientation model showed a valid structure among Turkish university students. To strengthen the factorial validity of the model, measurement invariance based on gender was examined. Results revealed that the model get the standards of measurement invariance based on gender. Consequently, it can be reported that the positive orientation model is a valid model in future research in Turkey.
