Examination of the studies, which were made on issues of computeraided geography teaching in Turkey

Abstract
Computer-aided education method, which can be employed in almost all disciplines, carries even greater importance for geography. Because, this technology is becoming increasingly significant thanks to its capacity to concretize many abstract concepts within this discipline and bring various natural and human-related instances and phenomena that cannot be observed on-site to classroom environment. This study aims to designate the computeraided geography education-themed studies carried out during 2000-2010 period, to offer an insight for further studies and to inform researchers about the research method, sampling method, sample size and group, data collection instruments and data analysis methods. For this purpose, research-basis elements were acquired by reviewing the literature. 625 issues of 35 national and international refereed journals during the 2000-2010 period and 24 papers presented at national and international congresses and symposiums were reviewed in an archive research. Moreover, computer-aided geography education-themed postgraduate theses were found out. 70 academic studies were confirmed as a result of these reviews and 39 of them were taken to detailed content analysis. It was concluded that; there are insufficient number of computer-aided studies, a considerable part of studies are carried out by single authors, qualitative research type is preferred to a great extent, studies with no sample constitute the majority, sample sizes are weak at representing the universe and modern data analysis methods are not sufficiently used.
