Abstract
The needs and changing consumption habits that stem from the developments in the fields of science and technology have increased people s influence on the natural environment. As the human intervention in the environment increases, the environmental problems based on the deterioration of natural balance affect the life of all living creatures negatively. This study aims to determine the views of people living in Yozgat on environmental problems. It is a qualitative and descriptive study adopting the interview method. The study data were analyzed by the content analysis method. The sample of the study consists of 170 people living in Yozgat. According to the participants opinions, the most critical environmental problems in Yozgat are garbage, waste, air, water and noise pollution, urbanization, and destruction of forests. The causes of these problems were expressed as lack of education, unconsciousness, and insensitivity. Participants suggested increasing environmental training activities, implementing supervision, and punishment to solve environmental problems. The participants environmentally friendly behaviors were not to throw rubbish in the environment, to warn those who throw away, to intend to recycle, and to participate in environmental activities and organizations.
