  • Abstract
    Izmir is one of the biggest cities in terms of population in Turkey. As time passes, the increase in the population leads to an increase in the number of vehicles. The increase in vehicle use also increases the number of traffic accidents in the city. The research was carried out with the aim of revealing the connections of traffic accidents with daily activity areas and contributing to their reduction. Eleven central districts of İzmir were chosen as the study area. The reason for choosing this region is that daily activity areas concentrate on this area and most of the population in Izmir city is living in this area. From 2010 to 2014 traffic accidents’ data was used in the study. In addition, another data is point data which are obtained from daily activity areas Izmir Metropolitan City Guide. Two different analyzes were performed. These are proximity and total event analyses. The purpose of the analysis is to determine the connections of traffic accidents to the daily activity areas. As a result of analyzes traffic accidents have connections with daily activity areas such as education and worship facilities, transportation areas, public and state establishments and facilities.
