Abstract
In this work, we studied the effects of barrier height ratioVL/VR on simetric Al_x LGa_1-x LAs/GaAs/Al_xR Ga_1-x RAs and asymmetric Al_xLGa1-xLAs/ GaAs/AlxRGa1-xRAs quantum wells under the presence of hydrostatic pressure by using variational method within the effective mass approximation. We calculated ground state impurity energies and impurity energy turning points as functions of the impurity position. We observed that the ground state impurity energies and impurity energy turning points depends strongly on hydrostatic pressure, different barrier heights and impurity positions.
