Abstract
Tourism, one of the fastest growing sectors in the world, plays an important role on social structure as much as economic, social, cultural and political aspects. The tourism sector is of great importance for developed and developing countries as it is one of the rare sectors that can provide development with less cost. The fact that Kahramanmaras province has achieved similar developments in the industry, trade and agriculture sectors in the tourism sector in recent years is of great importance in terms of local and regional economy. The determination and evaluations of the tourists contributing to tourism in Kahramanmaras, the perceptions and evaluations related to the perceptions of tourism areas, the more effective use of the tourism potential of Kahramanmaras, which has cradled many civilizations with its long history, and the values and investments to be made in tourism. The aim of this study is to be able to reveal the approach of the public towards tourism areas, tourism and tourism in Kahramanmaras. Survey application was carried out in Kahramanmaras city which reflects the approach of the people to the tourism and tourism areas. Survey forms developed for use in the research were applied to 1553 people in Kahramanmaras province and the obtained data were tested by Chi-square (x2) statistical method. As a result of the obtained data and analyzes; it was determined that the participants had positive and negative opinions about tourism socio-cultural and economic effects and a meaningful relationship between income, education and occupation.
