Abstract
The aim of this study is to examine the 9th grade Geography Course Curriculum (2018) acquisition according to the renewed Bloom taxonomy cognitive domain steps. As the 9th grade is the first grade level that students encounter with geography course for the first time, it is important to analyze the achievements of this class. In the research, document analysis technique, which is one of the qualitative research methods, were used. It was determined in which group the gain expressions belong to in terms of knowledge and cognitive process dimension. In order to facilitate the understanding of the findings, frequency and percentages of the acquisition were calculated on a unit basis and the findings were supported by graphs. The findings showed that the acquisitions were represented at different rates in the steps in the cognitive and knowledge dimensions of taxonomy. When the distribution of the acquisitions according to the cognitive process dimensions was examined, it was found that most of them were in the comprehension step (56%). While there are acquisitions corresponding to the application, analysis and evaluation step in the curriculum, it is determined that there are no acquisitions representing the creation step. As a result of the research, it was seen that the acquisitions were not sufficient in terms of high level cognitive processes and they were not distributed evenly according to the dimensions. Based on the results of the research, suggestions were made for program development experts, researchers and textbook writers.
