Abstract
Turkey, whose energy consumption increases every passing year, meets its energy needs mostly import carbon sources. These resources both affect the economic balances negatively and bring about ecological and geopolitical problems. Wind power is one of the most important local sources to meet this energy needs. This study aims to analyze the geographical distribution of wind power plants by determining locations and power amount of their turbines. For this aim, literature review has been done and 3089 wind turbines whose locations couldn’t be found on open source access were found on satellite views and their power amounts were determined. Lastly, by analyzing this data base through physical and human factors, geographical distributions of turbines belong to these wind power plants were presented. Results revealed that the locations which have high potential for wind power was not utilized enough and that existing locations were below their potentials.
