The Views of Classroom Teachers How The Values in The Life Science And Social Studies Curriculum Take Place in The Media

This research was carried out in order to reveal the thoughts of the class teachers regarding the ways in which the values in the 2017 Life Science and Social Studies Curriculum are included in the media. A descriptive research model was used in the study, and the criterion sampling method was used. The study was conducted with 40 class teachers in the province of Rize. Personal information form and semi-structured interview form were used as data collection tool. In the analysis of the data, a descriptive analysis approach was used. According to the findings obtained as a result of the research, teachers expressed the concept of value with examples such as love, respect, they expressed it as everything in society. The class teachers who participate in the research think that patriotism value should be added to the programs. Teachers ranked in the form of respect, love and patriotism as the values they thought to be neglected in the curriculum. Teachers have put forward the most values of respect and patriotism in media tools. Teachers stated that the values in these programs are adversely affected by programs in newspapers and televisions and that the internet will be affected both positively and negatively according to the purpose of use. Teachers expressed that radio broadcasts positively affect the values even though the radio is not widely used today.
