  • Abstract
In this study, it is aimed to determine optimum tractor powers and machine capacities with respect to agricultural land sizes in irrigation unions in Kayseri province. In this context, it was determined crop patterns of different land sizes in which the in irrigation unions crops are produced. The relevant data were obtained from farmers in order to determine the propensity of farmers in irrigation unions about the machines they used. The machinery and equipment used in production were identified. Optimum tractor power and machine capacities were calculated based on field size. Optimum machine capacity and tractor power determined using field size, workable days, performs of machines used in the field and technical features of inputs. Optimum machine capacities and optimum tractor powers of these machines needed for agricultural farms were obtained by using the values of the average field sizes of farms. As a result; the average power of the present tractors used in agricultural land in Kayseri region was determined as 53.72 kW. The most needed optimum tractor power was obtained in the plough used in first tillage processing. Also, depending on the average tractor power, the number of tractors required for cereals, corn-sunflower, sugar beet and vegetable are 1251, 749, 219 and 54, respectively.
