    Determination of Forage Yield and Quality of Some Alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) Genotypes Selected From Clone Plots

  • Abstract
    This research carried out to determine forage yield and quality of different alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) genotypes under Isparta conditions in 2014-2015. In present study, 15 different alfalfa genotypes that supplied from TUBITAK 110 O 257 and Bilensoy and Gea cultivars were used. This study specified hay yield, crude content, ADF, NDF, DDM and RFV in the alfalfa genotypes. End of the present research; the highest hay yields were obtained from Çay^-1 (28.79 t ha^-1), Keçiborlu^-1 (26.88 t ha^-1), Keçiborlu-3 (25.98 t ha^-1) and Çay-2 (25.77 t ha^-1) genotypes, the highest crude protein contents were obtained from Sandıklı^-1 (22.18%) and Çay^-2 (22.13%) genotypes, the highest ADF content was obtained from Akşehir-2 (32.9%) genotype, the highest NDF content was obtained from Yeşilova-2 (43.93%) genotype, the highest DDM values was obtained from Keçiborlu-3 (67.67%) genotype, the highest RFV values were obtained from Keçiborlu-3 (157.9) and Çay-2 (157.7) genotypes. Çay-1, Keçiborlu3, Keçiborlu-1 and Çay-2 genotoypes can be used in breeding study because of their high forage yield and quality values.
